Information & Items to Have on Hand

  • Your Felician Student ID
  • PDF copy of your dissertation/thesis.
    • This must be a single file. If your manuscript is in Word or RTF format, we can convert it into a PDF.
  • Abstract
  • Optional Supplementary files 
    • Images, data, etc.
    • That are an integral part of the dissertation/thesis, but not part of the full text.
  • Advisor and other Committee Members' Names
  • Subject Categories 

Why Publish?

  • It advances your academic career by establishing your academic credibility and expertise in your field.

  • You are obligated to share your findings with others in your discipline to advance the knowledge in your field of study.

  • Publications build your academic vitae.

  • It creates networking opportunities and opens the door to potential collaborations with others interested in your work.

  • Previous publications may be critical in securing support and funding for future projects.

Step 1 - Create an Account

Go to https://www.etdadmin.com/main/schoolsList & select Felician University to create a new student account.

  • ETD Administrator lets graduate students submit their completed dissertation/thesis to ProQuest Dissertation Publishing for publishing.
  • There are several steps in the submission process, which ETD Administrator will walk you through. Your submission will be reviewed for approval before it is submitted to ProQuest Dissertation Publishing.  

You will be entering information about your dissertation/thesis, uploading a copy of your work, and ordering printed copies (if desired). Your submission will be reviewed by a librarian before being delivered to ProQuest.

  • Note:  If you need to finish your submission later (for instance, if you need to update your PDF file before uploading it), you can save your information and come back later to finish. No information will be lost.

Step 2 - Select Type of Publishing

Traditional (FREE)

  • Work made widely available and eligible to receive royalties on the sale of work.
  • Work will be available through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses*, iParadigms and Dissertation Express, and that a citation/abstract may appear in some indexes (e.g. SciFinder, MathSciNet, PsycINFO, etc.).

Open Access Publishing PLUS ($95)

  • Broadest possible dissemination of work - free global access to the electronic copy of work via the internet.**
  • Will not be eligible to receive royalties.
  • Work will be available through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, iParadigms and Dissertation Express, and that a citation/abstract may appear in some indexes (e.g. SciFinder, MathSciNet, PsycINFO, etc.).

*Note that Felician does not subscribe to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, you can only access PQDT Open through FUL, which provides the full text of open access dissertations and theses.

 

Step 3 - Select Publishing Options

Do you want major search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo) to discover your work through ProQuest? 

ProQuest enables dissertations and theses to be indexed in Google Scholar to support discovery of this valuable work and ultimately improve research outcomes for scholars. An authenticated ProQuest dissertations user searching Google Scholar will be recognized by the ProQuest platform and connect to the full text in their library's collection.

Users who are not recognized are sent to a landing page where they can purchase the dissertation or access up to the first 24 pages at no charge. Dissertations that have been published using the ProQuest Open Access publishing model are available to all users for free and immediate download. In addition to Google Scholar, dissertations and theses will also be available on google.com as Google Scholar makes metadata available. 

Step 4 - Provide the Following

  • Your Name & Contact Information
  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Year completed
  • Degree awarded
  • Department
  • Primary subject category
  • Additional subject categories (optional)
  • Keywords (include up to 6)
  • Advisor/Supervisor/Committee Chair
  • Committee Members (optional)

Step 5 - Upload

Upload a PDF of your thesis or dissertation. PDF is the required format for ETD submission. If you are unable to convert your manuscript into PDF, you have the option to upload a Word or RTF file below and we will convert your file into PDF.

Submit copyright permission documents if necessary.

Submit and describe any supplementary materials. If supplementary materials - like audio, video and spreadsheets - are part of your dissertation or thesis, you can submit them as supplemental files. These files will be made available in ProQuest Dissertations & Theses when your work is published.

Optional:

  • Register with the US Office of Copyright ($55 fee)
  • Order hardcover or softcover print copies of your work (fee varies)
